Privacy & Terms
I am Waqas Ali, a freelance WordPress engineer based in Lahore, Pakistan. I built and run waqasdev.com on my own. This page covers two things: how I handle your information when you reach out, and the ground rules for using the site. Privacy first, terms after.
Privacy Policy
1. What I collect
- Contact form fields from /#contact: name, email, project type, and the details you write in the message box.
- If you message me on WhatsApp at +92 348 3867543, I see your phone number, your WhatsApp display name, and the message body.
- Email metadata that arrives in my inbox when the contact form sends its notification, including subject line, headers, and timestamp.
- Standard server access logs written by the host: IP address, request path, browser user agent, and time of request.
2. Why I collect it
To read your enquiry, work out whether I am a good fit, and reply to the address you gave me. The server logs help the host keep the site healthy and trace errors when something breaks.
3. Where it is stored
- Form submissions sit in the WordPress database that powers this site.
- The site runs on a managed web server, with Cloudflare in front as the CDN and reverse proxy.
- The notification email lands in my inbox at [email protected], where it stays until I archive or delete it.
- WhatsApp messages stay inside WhatsApp on my phone, under their own policy.
4. Who else sees it
Your data stays with me. The supporting services involved in delivering the site or the email are:
- Cloudflare handles the request on its way in as a CDN and reverse proxy.
- The managed web server runs the WordPress install, the database, and the outbound mail relay that powers waqasdev.com.
- Fluent Forms processes the submission on this server, and a notification copy is emailed to my inbox.
5. Cookies
Anonymous browsing sets no first-party cookies from this site. Cloudflare may set a short-lived __cf_bm cookie for network-level traffic filtering, which is a security check rather than a profile of you. WordPress only sets cookies inside the admin login flow and for logged-in users, which will not be you unless you happen to be me.
6. How long I keep it
- Contact form submissions sit in the WordPress database for up to 12 months from the date you sent them. If we end up working together, I keep the original enquiry for the duration of the engagement plus 12 months after it ends, then clear it.
- Server access logs rotate every 30 days, which is the host’s default.
- WhatsApp threads stay on my phone until I clear them. You can ask me to delete a chat any time.
- Notification emails in my inbox follow the same 12-month window as the underlying form entry.
7. Your rights
You can email me at [email protected] and ask me to show you what I hold, fix anything that is wrong, or delete it. I handle the request myself and reply within three business days.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, I will update the date at the top of the page and add a short note above describing what shifted. It is worth checking back if you are curious.
9. International data transfers
The CDN (Cloudflare) is US-headquartered and routes traffic globally, so your request usually lands at a Cloudflare edge node close to you, which may sit outside Pakistan. Anything processed at the edge is governed by Cloudflare’s own privacy notice. The application database, the form submissions, and the inbox that receives the notifications all live on the Pakistan-based managed web server.
10. If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR)
You have the rights I listed in section 7, plus the right to:
- ask for a portable copy of the data I hold about you,
- object to specific uses, or restrict how I process it,
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (the ICO in the UK, your national DPA in the EU).
The lawful basis for handling contact-form submissions is legitimate interest — specifically, replying to the enquiry you sent me. I do not run automated decision-making, profiling, or behavioural advertising.
11. If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information I hold about you, request its deletion, and opt out of any sale of that information. I do not sell personal information, full stop. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].
12. Children’s data
This site is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect contact-form data from them. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent something, email [email protected] and I will delete it.
Terms & Conditions
1. Using this site
waqasdev.com is an informational portfolio. The articles, case studies, and notes describe my work and how I think about WordPress and automation. Treat the content as a portfolio rather than legal, financial, or technical advice for your specific situation. If you need a recommendation for your own project, get in touch and I will give you a proper answer based on what you are actually building. You agree to use the site for lawful purposes.
2. Intellectual property
I own the site copy, layouts, custom code, and original artwork unless credited otherwise. Client logos and project screenshots remain the property of the respective brands and appear here for case-study purposes with permission. Linking to any page here is welcome. Quoting a paragraph or a code snippet is fine if you credit the page; for longer reuse, ask me first.
3. External links
Some pages link out to client sites, tools, or articles I find useful. Those destinations are run by other parties and have their own policies, so check theirs if you care about the details.
4. Limitation of liability
I provide the site on an as-is basis. I take care to keep information accurate and the site running, but I cannot guarantee it will be available every minute of every day or that the information will be perfect for your situation. To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for losses arising from your use of the site.
5. Project work
These terms cover the public website only. Paid engagements run under a separate written scope, quote, and invoice that we both agree before work starts. That document takes precedence over anything written here for the project itself, and covers payment terms, intellectual property handover, and confidentiality.
6. Governing law
This site, this policy, and these terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Any dispute that we cannot sort out by talking goes to the courts of Lahore.
7. Contact
The fastest ways to reach me:
- Contact form at /#contact
- WhatsApp: +92 348 3867543 (I reply personally)
- Email: [email protected]
Replies come from me, so give me up to three business days.
